I wanted to share with you my Face of the day and thoughts about two of the Spring 2012 makeup products that caught my eye: Chanel eyeshadow quad in Eclosion and Guerlain Cruel Gardenia highlighter, both of which I used in today’s makeup.
Obviously it’s a day time look, and I love how Cruel Gardenia catches the light. Other products used:

Base: Hourglass Mineral VeilJ
Foundation: Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in B20
Powder: Chanel Poudre Douce in 20 Peche Tendre

I will start with the Chanel eyeshadow quad in Eclosion which was more of an impulse buy, but as of right now I love 3 out of 4 shadows.

1. Sheer warm creamy pink is a surprise for me, because I try to stay away from any pink or peach shades on my eyes, this particular ne is very nice, brighten up the makeup.

2. Frosty  campaign with noticeable gold shimmer is my list favorite because of the poor color pay off and short staying power, at the end it’s just shimmer all over.

3. Neutral beige (pale coffee color) with sheer goldish shimmer, very finely melted. It was difficult for me to move it towards cool or warm side. Perfect for all over the lid and blending color, just another universal, staple shade.

4. Shimmering plummy with sheer redish sparkles, quality and application is very similar to the previous shade (beige). Excellent color pay off, easy to work with, easy to blend (which I did for today’s FOTD), but also buildable color.

Overall a nice palette if you do not have many Chanel quads to experiment with, but definitely not  a must have and there are much more unique shadows available. Still available at many counters.

Next is Guerlain Cruel Gardenia highlighter the one spring item I knew I must get. Put a “Gardenia” on anything and I will purchase it:) It is a great product overall, does not matter if you have only few highlighters (like me) or a huge collection.

As much as I tried, camera did not show an actual color of the highlighter, it’s frosty pinkish (even purpulish from some angles) color. Definitely from the cooler group, but perfect for any complection.

On a picture above it is shown next to two warm  yellow based highlighters from my collection: Dior Amber Diamond and Hourglass Illuminator from the Bronze Light palette.

Dior Amber Diamond, Guerlain Cruel Gardenia, MAC Petticoat (another pink highlighter I discovered in my collection).

As seen above Cruel Gardenia is very finely melted which makes it the most pigmented and not as frosty looking. Soft almost texture is very easy to apply and work with.

So far this is my favorite face product from the Spring 2012 release, I would definitely recommend getting it while you still can. I purchased mine from Nordstrom  about a month ago.

I actually just bought this palette and love what you did with it! Could you describe where you applied the colors?
